January 2020 Meeting: DEVC Business

The January DEVC meeting will be on Saturday January 18th from 12:30 to 2:30 PM in the Arvada Meeting Room at the Jeffco Library at 7525 W 57th Ave, in Arvada. This will be a business meeting for the annual election of officers for President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. We will also confirm
additional DEVC Board Member appointees for Webmaster, Newsletter Editor, EV Conversion, Education Outreach, Facebook and two at large positions. The meeting will then be open for input from the members and visitors on the upcoming 2019 DEVC meetings, events and activities. November Meeting: Iron Edison

The DEVC had a meeting at Iron Edison in October 2016 and it was very interesting. They build up battery packs for solar storage. These can either be Lithium-Ion or Nickle-Iron depending on the best application for the customer. They can also build up complete systems including the solar array, inverter and battery storage. These systems have been used on remote locations or for off-grid and/or backup applications. You can find out more about their operation at: https://ironedison.com/
December 2018 Meeting: Holiday Party

The December meeting will be at Cinzzetti’s Italian Market Restaurant for the annual DEVC holiday party. The event will be held on Saturday the 8th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at 281 W 104th Avenue in Northglenn. This is an enormous buffet during the last two hours of their Saturday Weekend Brunch and you can check out their Menu at: http://www.cinzzettis.com/colorado/foodmenu/ Coffee, tea or soft drinks are included; espresso or alcoholic beverages are extra. It would be most helpful if you would arrive between 12:15 and 12:45 so we can get everyone checked in beforehand. Members with annual dues current, get in for FREE. If your dues are not current, or you are not yet a member and would like to join us, dues will be collected at the door (Regular $20, or Sponsor $50). All guests of members will be $10 each. So we can give Cinzzetti’s a heads up on the number attending, please RSVP to David at jdmc44@comcast.net by December 6th with the number of guests attending with you.
We extend a special invitation to all members of the Denver Tesla Club and the Colorado Springs EV Club to join us.

October 2018 Meeting: Wireless charging

The October DEVC meeting will be on Saturday the 20th from 12:30 to 2:30 PM in the Lakewood Meeting Room at the Jeffco Library at 10200 West 20th Avenue in Lakewood. In addition to highlights on the CEVC Wireless Charging Subcommittee meeting at NREL (see the DEVC October 2018 Newsletter page 5), we will cover some interesting data collected by our past President, Tim Haas on EMF (Electro-Magnetic Field) Radiation in a few electric vehicle.
Other items for discussion are future DEVC meetings, needed participation at special events, opening for a DEVC Board Member, next year’s NDEW events and any other items brought up at the meeting.

CU Boulder, Parking and Transportation Services, will be highlighting some of the latest EV and non-gas powered vehicle technology, ranging from a fully electric bus, to eBikes, and more. Some vehicles will be available to test drive or ride in; others will be just for show. All will be cool! Come check out this event…and bring a friend! The event is open to everyone.

DEVC Member and Speaker, Tom Keller will be giving a talk on Nikola Tesla and Elon Musk on Sunday, May 20th at 1:00 PM. Kay Talley and the Denver Tesla Club will host this pot luck afternoon, so bring a dish or beverage along. Hang out with your fellow Tesla and EV owners, chat and learn some new facts from the speaker!

In addition to being a Historian and Speaker, Tom Keller is a graduate of California State University at Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Psychology, with advanced studies in Social Sciences. He has done extensive research on Nikola Tesla and early electric cars. Did you know that Nikola lived in the Knob Hill neighborhood in Colorado Springs for eight months in 1899-1900 and that he had an Electric Car in the early 1930s?
COSEIA Solar Power Mountain West Conference

The Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association will be holding their annual Solar Power Mountain West Conference at the Hyatt Regency Aurora Conference Center, 13200 East 14th Place, on March 12-14. The DEVC will provide an EV Showcase at their Solar Career Expo on the afternoon of Wednesday the 14th of March, from Noon to 5:00 PM, which is free and open to the public. They would like a variety of 8-10 vehicles for the event. So far we have LEAFs and Teslas, but we need other models. Panasonic would like 3-5 EVs to park inside the hall during their 100th anniversary celebration (described below). They are expecting 800 visitors, so if you want to show your car to lots of people this is the event.
