Gas Car Phase Outs in the United States and Abroad
Coltura is a nonprofit organization that develops and advocates for policies to accelerate the transition off gasoline, including the recently-enacted 2030 vehicle electrification law in Washington state. Fifteen countries and four states have passed measures targeting the end of the sale of new gas cars, usually by 2030 or 2035, and several other states and the EU are considering similar laws. How do state vehicle electrification requirements affect EV adoption? Will auto manufacturers, battery manufacturers, and battery materials companies be able to produce enough EVs? How much will the carbon savings be? Is this something we could do in Colorado?
