February Meeting: Boulder Pub Meeting

The February meeting will be February 27th 11-1, at “The Kitchen Next Door” Community Pub. This meeting will feature a verbal presentation and discussion led by Will Toor, Director of Transportation, Southwest Energy Efficiency Project. The Kitchen is one of Kimbal Musk’s restaurants (he is a chef and co-founder), so we will be patronizing a member of the board of directors of Tesla Motors and SpaceX, besides the younger brother to Elon Musk. Hope to see you there for a beer, discussion and a great lunch!

January Meeting: DEVC Business

Our January meeting will be on Saturday the 16th from 10AM to 12PM at the IBEW68 facility, 5660 Logan St, in Denver. This will be a business meeting for the annual election of officers for President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. We will also confirm additional DEVC Board Member appointees for Webmaster, Newsletter Editor and Committee Chairpersons.

Current committees are:

  • EV Conversion
  • Education Outreach
  • Facebook & Social Media

The meeting will then be open for input from the members and visitors on the upcoming 2016 DEVC meetings, events and activities. If you would like to run for any office, be considered for any appointed position, or provide written input, please email David at jdmc44@comcast.net

December Party

The December meeting will be our annual Holiday Party which will again be held at Cinzzetti’s. We have reservations on the 19th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This was a huge success last year with 55 attending and hopefully we can do the same this year. It would be most helpful if you would arrive between 1:15 and 1:45 so we can get everyone checked in before hand. Members with annual dues current, get in for FREE. If your dues are not current, or you are not yet a member and would like to join us, dues will be collected at the door (Regular $20, Sponsor $50). All guests of members will be $10 each. So we can give Cinzzetti’s a heads up on the number attending, please RSVP to David at jdmc44@comcast.net by the December 5th.

November Meeting: Green Eyed Motors

October Meeting: Xcel Nat Gas Plant

Our October Meeting will be a tour of Xcel’s new Cherokee Natural Gas fired power plant where they have retired three 60 year old coal fired boilers. After you park, go to Gate 1, dial 008 and ask for Carla who is our contact person. The tour is limited to 30 guests, so don’t be late!

Note: This is NOT on a Saturday as usual, but rather on the 4th Friday in October.

September meeting: Drive Electric Events!

This month hosts the annual National Drive Electric Week, September 12th through the 20th. https://driveelectricweek.org/. This is a time where you can take your electric to as many events as you can and talk about your experiences to those that attend, and offer rides if you like. June Meeting: EV car share and EV Roundup

The June meeting will be a Double Header on Saturday the 6th in Golden. We will start at eThos Electric Car Share located at 1901 Jackson Street (map), from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Tim Prior and his assistant, Kathryn Saphire, will showcase their Coda fleet, which makes up the only all electric Car Share business in the U S.

We will then move to Golden Real Estate at 17695 South Golden Road (map) for the “Electric Vehicle Roundup” which will be hosted by our Sponsoring Member, Jim Smith. His parking lot will be reserved for Electric Vehicles only so bring your electric truck, van, car, scooter, bicycle or what ever and join in on a fun afternoon. If you don’t bring an EV, please park across the street and join us in the reserved lot to visit those who do.

May Meeting: Electric Vehicles of the 70s

Thirty-eight years ago the International Electric Vehicle Exposition was held at McCormick Place in Chicago. The May meeting will be a slide presentation on that Expo as given at the DEVC meeting in May of 1977. The slides will display the technology and vehicles in development and available during that era of Electric Vehicles. One of the vehicles, the Kesling Electric Yare, is described in the Electric Vehicle News section of our May newsletter.
