The December meeting for both the DEVC and the CSEVC will be our annual holiday party at Cinzzetti’s Italian Market Restaurant.. This is an enormous buffet during the last two hours of their Saturday Weekend Brunch and you can check out their Menu at: http://www.cinzzettis.com/colorado/foodmenu/ Coffee, tea or soft drinks are included; espresso or alcoholic beverages are extra.
It would be most helpful if you would arrive between 12:15 and 12:45 so we can get everyone checked in beforehand. Members with annual dues current, get in for FREE. If your dues are not current, or you are not yet a member and would like to join us, dues will be collected at the door (Regular $20, or Sponsor $50). All guests of members will be $10 each. So we can give Cinzzetti’s a heads up on the number attending, please RSVP to me at: firstname.lastname@example.org by the 8th of December and include the number of guests attending with you.
This is a time when we have our largest turnout to a meeting with everyone connecting, or reconnecting, with fellow EV enthusiasts. Make sure you attend, you’ll be glad you did!

The November meeting is a joint event with the Colorado Springs EV Club, and will be their end of year holiday party at Glen Eyrie Castle. http://www.gleneyrie.org. Glen Eyrie was built by, and was the home of, the founder of the City of Colorado Springs, General William Jackson Palmer. It was initially finished in 1906.
The event will be held on Saturday the 12th at 11:30 AM at 3820 N 30th Street, on the west side of Colorado Springs, just North of Garden of the Gods. Come down and meet some new EV supporters in the Colorado Springs area. The following are the instructions from Mac McCauley with the CSEVC:
Park near the castle, there is plenty of parking. DO NOT PARK NEXT TO THE HILL! Bighorn sheep and mountain goats scramble about up there and knock down rocks on cars! The event will be in the King James Dining Room, inside the castle. You cannot enter prior to 11 AM and the meal starts at Noon, the luncheon will be over at 1:00 PM. This will be a sandwich BUFFET, consisting of chips, potato salad, fresh fruit, sandwich bar with condiments, water and soda. The cost will be $20 per person and Mac will collect the money (preferably cash) at the event. You must RSVP to Mac before the 11th at email@example.com If you can make it, just let him know who you are and how many people will be with you. He will answer your email by saying you are IN! Only then will your name be on the list.

In addition to all the Drive Electric Week DEVC events this September, on Tuesday September 13th, from 6:45PM to 9:00PM, the Boulder County Chapter of the Colorado Renewable Energy Society will be hosting a presentation entitled, “The History of EVs and Why Gasoline-Powered Cars Are Obsolete”. This will be held at the CU Sustainability, Energy, and Environment Complex (SEEC) – Auditorium (C120). The presenters are our own J David McNeil and Jim Smith from the DEVC who will share their observations on the past, present and future of EVs. This is a time when a lot of electrics are displayed at the events, and their owners talk to people in answering questions and promoting the benefits of electric vehicles. Some dealers provide the opportunity for attendees to actually drive an electric car. Colorado now has nine events scheduled which are listed below:

So far Aurora on the 10th has the highest number of attendees and vehicles registered, but Golden on the 18th has the largest number of registered models and mileage driven. Try to attend more than one event, especially if you have an electric. Also be sure to register on the corresponding link to attend, and/or volunteer to help the organizers of the event(s) you will be attending.

Sustainable Smart Home

Out July meeting will be at the Grand Opening for the Sustainable Smart Home which will be held at its location in Superior, CO (Original Town) at 202 W Maple Street. Activities will also take place in Asti Park at Maple and 2nd Street. In addition to tours of the home from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, there will be a concert by the VFW Band of Colorado from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. From Noon to 3:00 PM the DEVC will have a Car Show, so everyone bring your electrics and join the show. Also from 1:00 to 3:00 will be a Hydrogen Vehicle Ride & Drive complements of NREL.

The June meeting is one that several people have been asking about and looking forward to attending. It will be held at Centennial Airport in Englewood where our host Aero Electric Aircraft will be showing us, and talking about, their Proof-of-Concept Prototype “Sun Flyer” two-seat electric trainer airplane. The meeting will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday the 18th at the Denver Jet Center East, located at 13000 E Control Tower Road. We have been asked to walk around to the east side of the building (near the security gate that leads to the ramp) and enter the lobby, NOT to enter the building through the Aspen Flying Club doorway.

Our April DEVC meeting will be held in conjunction with the CSEVC on Saturday April 9th at 1:00 PM for a tour of Canopy Airport Parking, 8100 Tower Road, Commerce City, CO 80022. As mentioned in last month’s newsletter, this location is a sophisticated, efficient and green parking facility utilizing solar, geothermal and wind power combined with CNG and Biodiesel shuttle buses plus EV charging.

For our March meeting we will be touring the RTD Maintenance Facility, at 613 W. 48th Ave, Denver, CO. Please plan to arrive punctually as we will meet our tour guide outside the gate for entry into the compound. This tour will focus on the new electric A-Line starting up in April with service from Union Station to DIA.
